What should I wear for my photo shoot?
A.These are some helpful clothing pointers for engagements, family, or lifestyle photography:
-Start with a color palette. Consider location and season to help to narrow down a palette.
-If this is an engagement or family photo shoot make sure everyone looks like they "go" together. This doesn't mean matching exactly. Like stated above use a color palette to give your attire more range while also being cohesive.
-Avoid branding or worded shirts because they tend to date photographs or feel like a commercial for a clothing company.
-Lastly and most importantly, make sure it feels like yourself. If you don't feel comfortable or like yourself in the attire you're in, it will show through in photos.
If you are taking headshots and need some clothing advice, contact us and we can send you the full headshot photography guide.
What is editing?
A.Editing is where we take all of the best images from your session and give them a signature look before presenting them to you. We enhance your photos by getting the exact right exposure and contrast, manage coloring and apply it to the entire session for a cohesive look, and finalize the process by taking away any background distractions so you're the main focus.
Do you post photos on social media?
A.We are light social media users, mainly Instagram. When we do post it's to a small following of mostly-clients. We respect your privacy so if you prefer to not be featured please feel free to let us know and we will happily oblige.
Can you alter my looks in the editing process?
A.My stance as a photographer and my personal feelings about altering your looks is one in the same- I'm not a surgeon, I'm not a time machine, and I'm definitely not a Snapchat filter so please no requests for making yourself look thinner and younger.
How do I pose and, more importantly, what do I do with my hands?
A.Don't stress! I will guide you through the photo shoot on what to do with your posing, and your hands, to make it look as natural as possible.
Do we share rights to my photographs?
A.Rose Colored Photography owns the rights to all photographs taken. As a client, you have the rights to use your photographs in any personal, non-commercial, form. For example, if you take family photos with us you can print those photos, post them online, share them with loved ones, make it your screen saver but you cannot make a photo from our session into a billboard to promote a movie you're in. If your intention is to use your photos commercially, you must purchase those rights.
What if I have to cancel or reschedule?
A.We understand that life happens and you may need to cancel or reschedule your photo shoot so, with the exception of wedding photography, we do not charge a cancellation fee. Just simply communicate your cancellation to us and we hope to make it work in the near future.
Do you do other types of photography?
A.Our passion and focus is in portrait and lifestyle photography. If your photography needs are in real estate, products, landscapes, or anything that isn't people-based, we're more than happy to make a recommendation of a better-fit photographer.
